Also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, Juneteenth, which is celebrated on June 19, has been a significant holiday for many Black Americans for over 155 years and is often celebrated with cookouts, festivals, church events, storytelling, and more.
In recent years, the holiday has grown in popularity and importance for Black Americans and the country as a whole. Currently, 47 states and Washington, DC, recognize Juneteenth as a public or state holiday. The move to make Juneteenth a national holiday has recently gained traction as well.

1) Juneteenth Day Parade & Celebration - 50th Anniversary in Milwaukee
To mark its 50th anniversary, Milwaukee’s Annual Juneteenth Day Parade and Celebration is set to take place Saturday, June 19. The parade will start at 8 a.m. from 14th and Atkinson and will travel to Burleigh and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
The 2021 Juneteenth Parade will be broadcast live on Milwaukee's TMJ4. The station is also producing historical and educational pieces to run during the 8-10 a.m. broadcast on June 19.

We are planning a historical parade leaving the Gem City Market at 324 Salem Ave. at the corner of Superior and Salem Ave. at 9:30 a.m on June 19th. We will be having a full day of vendors, live performances and fun at Liberation Park, formerly known as Dayton View Park from 11-6 p.m.
6) Rosa Parks Museum Annual Juneteenth Celebrations
The Rosa Parks Museum is excited to be able to once again host its annual Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 19, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in downtown Montgomery in the 200 block of Montgomery Street.
The event is free and open to the public and includes local food and merchant vendors, live music, and complimentary tours of the museum.

10) 2021 Kujichagulia Juneteenth Week Parades & Celebrations
Each day during our Juneteenth Celebration will have a different focus. We will have a special Juneteenth Community Presentation, a Community Prayer, and finally Our Family Dinner a virtual cooking demonstration that includes delivered meal kits from Pasture and Plenty and Artemis Foods. Our celebration will close out on June 19th with an amazing 2021 Kujichagulia Juneteenth Week Parade & party in Penn Park.
